Barbie My Favorite Time Capsule 1986 Rockers doll Immediately

Even though the 1986 Barbie & The Rockers doll was beyond my time, I remember it selling very well at Christmas time when I worked at Consumers Distributing back in the late '80s. Out of all 6 "My Favourite Barbies", it seemed that Mattel saved the best doll for last in the production. The neon colours of her clothes really pop-out at you and can probably be seen for miles! The clothing fits nicely, and it looks like a lot of care was put into recreating this Barbie from the mid-'80s. The outfit enclosed looks great too, with the shoulder-padded bolero jacket, pink mini-dress, and those rockin' thigh high boots! Included are trivia cards, a booklet showing the fashions of the era, and a stand to display the doll. Barbie Top Model Resort Teresa Decide Now

Top Model Resort Teresa is a gorgeous addition to the "Resort Line". Growing up on Barbie, the blonde was always so gorgeous in my young mind. I love the fact that they make the Top Model Line in not only blonde Barbie, but red head Summer and brunette Teresa.

Her look is very exotic and mysterious! In my opinion her eyes really put the whole look together. The outfits provided are very sleek and sexy (model-like) and of better quality than the norm. I originally purchased these dolls for my daughters but I wish I had just put them on display so they could be appreciated from a distance. Their outfits, shoes and looks shouldn't be tampered with by 5 and 6 year old little hands. Not to mention the occasionaly 2.5 year old boy!

By 1977, the Mattel company was going through some severe financial reverses. Amidst a storm of controversy, Elliott and Ruth Handler had handed over their reigns to a group of young businessmen who were totally green in their marketing of the Barbie brand. Dolls started to be manufactured very cheaply with zero personality. The uprising of the Feminist Movement had also seriously impacted Barbie's reputation as well; the groups routinely picketed toyfair conventions and burned dolls on bonfires in order to demonstrate their point that Barbie was an outdated, inaccurate symbol of women.

When "Superstar" Barbie came along in 1977, it was the perfect time. For the first time since 1967, the Mattel designers completely re-vamped Barbie's face mould, giving her a fresh new Farrah Fawcett look ("Charlie's Angels" was a hit on TV during this period); and overhauled her wardrobe to include dazzling new disco-inspired fashions.

This reproduction brings back "Superstar" Barbie dressed in her trademark hot pink satin dress with matching boa and strappy shoes. Also included is another fashion from the inaugural Superstar fashion line (which is known as "Dramatic Black" among collectors). Everything about this repro is totally authentic; this is a great way to own a minty-mint Superstar but without the hefty pricetag!
