Order Barbie My Favorite Time Capsule 1967 Twist N' Turn

Out of all 6 of the "My Favourite Barbie" series, the 1967 Twist 'N' Turn Barbie is one of three that are nicely appointed. From the detail of her face paint, the swimsuit, and the 1968 "Zokki!" fashion really make this a nice collector doll in the series. The "Zokki!" fashion doesn't look that great in pictures, but when you see the outfit in the box with the doll, it really pops! The only downside to this doll is that the arms and twist 'n' turn waist move freely, and don't have the tightness that the original Barbies of the '60s & '70s had. However, the legs joined at the hips are tight and the legs click nicely into different positions. As I mentioned earlier, the 1967 is one of three that are nicely put together. The other 2 that I would recommend are the 1959 Barbie, and the 1986 Barbie and the Rockers doll. The worst one of the 6 is the 1971 Malibu Barbie, her head looks compressed at the sides, the arms span out when at her side, which wasn't the way the original was, and her legs look very skinny, making her torso look top heavy. The 1962 Barbie looks more like she has a bad case of bun-head, and not the bubble cut from the early '60s. Finally, the 1977 Superstar Barbie looks different from what I remember. On the repro, her forehead looks too big and the pink dress she is wearing is very baggy, and not form fitting in the chest area. With all the positives and negatives, it's nice to see the Barbies from the different eras represented. I like this Barbie mainly because she has a Steffie face sculpt and really light skin tone with brunette hair, but because of the awkward way the legs are done (Model Muse style), she is really hard to get to stand up straight.
I wanted more of a cherry red colour on the lips and nails, but the doll is more burgundy than anything. I guess I just don't know the difference between Garnet and Ruby very well >.<
The hair is really cute with it's ringlets.
The jewelry is nicely done, but not removable.
The dress is skin tight and covered in glitter (which comes off rather easily- just brush it with your fingers and you'll have glitter everywhere).
The dog is uneven on the bottom, so it doesn't sit up straight at all.
Mattel did do a good thing by putting a sticky substance on the bottom of the feet (or top of the shoes, whichever you prefer) and the and that holds the dog's "leash" (a piece of satin ribbon).
Definitely not for a little girl, unless she likes to keep her dolls in their boxes. The box is made to be displayed, so leaving the doll in the box might not be a bad idea.
If you are buying this doll to use for an OOAK or just to re-dress, you might want to look at other Model Muse dolls instead (mainly because of the issue with the glitter on the dress and the way her legs are 'trained' to cross at the ankles- you can't use a straddle stand with this doll).
If you are a collector who does not de-box and you like the Model Muse dolls, this doll is for you.
If you are looking for a Steffie face, light skin tone, brunette hair and dark makeup to dress in a goth/gothic style, then this is the doll for you. :3

I thought most people would like to know that the doll has only one strand of hair (different color than the rest) that changes color. You can see it in the picture if you look closely. My daughter spent a good ten minutes dipping all of the dolls hair in hot and cold water, being dissapointed because it didn't work. I then went to see if I could help her and discovered that there is only one strand that changes from lavender to light blue. By dipping the whole strand of hair, the color change was so minor, that she didn't even notice. When I used the mini sponge included and changed only a small part of the hair strand, I was then able to see two different colors. My daughter and I were both dissapointed. Low Price High School Musical Sharpay Doll

I bought this doll for one of my students who finds Ashley Tisdale tremendously attractive, but once I got it home and unwrapped it, I started liking it myself. I can see a problem looming ahead though, the problem being, the durable and attractive doll doesn't really look much like Miss Tisdale. They even compound their error by featuring a photo of the actual actress towards te bottom of the doll's packaging, and a child would be able to tell, that doll is but a poor imitation, a generic version if you will, of Miss Tisdale's unique physiognomy and quirky features. Let's face it, Sharpay isn't as pretty as Gabriella and she is far from a nice person! However she makes up for it in the films based on her life, by her high energy and her boundless self-esteem.

Recently Ryan from HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL was up here in San Francisco, filming the part of the young photographer Danny Nicoletta in Gus Van Sant's biopic MILK. I kept thinking, did the actor think that this was going to be a picture about milk like from cows? If so he must have been in for a shock. I read the other reviews and wanted to make sure I addressed any of their concerns. First of all, this doll's hair is the EASIEST of all the American Girl dolls my 3 daughters (and sister) have...we have almost 10 dolls total. This is actually the doll I would suggest because it has the easiest and prettiest hair of all the dolls. You have to be extra careful no matter what American Girl doll you get. This doll is no exception. These are not meant to be treated like an ordinary doll. The hair salon at the stores are not for replacing hair...they are there to do different hair styles. You can send the doll in to the doll hospital to get a head replacement to get new hair for your doll. The doll's wig can not be replaced without replacing the head.

My 6 year old has wanted an American Girl doll for over a year now. We bought Target's version much cheaper last year (Our Generation) for her to practice taking care of first. These dolls are high quality and are meant to be collectables and therefore need to be treated as so. There is a reason they are so expensive and popular...they are really wonderful dolls. Julie comes with a some neat accessories, but I agree with the other sellers...buy her from American Girl. The prices are inflated because people don't check the real site. I'd check there first and go from there.

Julie has the softest and most amazing hair I have ever seen. The other dolls' hair can be rather hard to handle, but I use a spray bottle with water and the American Girl wire brush. I have braided the other doll's hair to keep it nice when the girls are not playing with them. Julie's hair is quite an exception...it is long, soft and staight.
